Come celebrate turning 40 with Lucy in sunny Albufeira (Portugal)
SATURDAY,
SEPT 4th 2027—
From 5pm
Where is Albufeira?
Albufeira is a costal tourist town located on Portugal’s southern Algarve region.
My plan is to hire a large party house for 7 days (1st - 8th September) and host a party on the Saturday night 4th.
You’re welcome to join me at the party house or book your own accomodation nearby.
Kids are welcome of course, however the party house might be a bit hectic for them.
Getting there & getting around
-
Getting from Melbourne
Flights leave frequently from Melbourne to Lisbon, at this time of year.
Early September prices seems to sit around A$1800 - $2500 one way depending on airlines, so you may wish to keep an eye on specials etc.
From Lisbon you can fly, train, bus down to Albufeira (aprox 3.5 hours) from aprox A$17 on a train to A$73ish on the plane. The train seems very efficient and cheap so this is my choice.
You can also flight straight to Faro which is closer to Albufeira, however these start around A$2500

Getting around
Albufeira has a local bus system Giro which takes you to the main locations around the city, there is a tourist price, 4 euros, to jump on an off for one day. The service seems to run until midnight in September.
There is also the Albufeira Turistrem (Tourist Train) which is like a hop-on hop-off service that hits all the major landmarks… cutest looking train so if anyone is bringing a kid it might excite them.
As a tourist town there is obviously also Uber and Albufeira Taxis to help you get around, and like the bus, it’s not too expensive.
Where to stay
-
Party house
If you are keen to stay with me at the party house, let me know.
Currently have found a number of 5 bedroom places ranging from A$1073 to A$1553 per person for the 7 nights. If you’re happy to share a room then the cost will be halved :)
-
Go your own way
If you're not keen on sharing, but want to stay within cooeee, then aim to stay around Centro Histórico de Albufeira, the historic Old Town. The Old Town is the heart of Albufeira. There is a long sandy beach there with all the facilities. Plus, the old town has tons of restaurants, bars, and cafes.

Things to do and places to visit
This is a tourist town so there is a heap to see, eat, drinks and do.
Aside from the huge number of beaches, apparently 20 is the number they spruik, there are also an abundance of activities to do on and in the water, such as kayaking tours, boat tours and cliff jumping opportunities.
For the history buffs there are a bunch of historical buildings including the remains of a Moorish castle and 18th Century churches and buildings.
If anyone is planning a fancy meal whilst over here; Albufeira, Porches and Vilamoura all have a number of Michelin rated and Michelin star restaurants that you can check out, not all of them cost your annual income either.

Let me know if you’re thinking of joining me!
